If you’ve been following along on Instagram this week, I’ve been sharing photos from my first week of socially distanced family shoots. After three full months in quarantine, it was beyond surreal – but wonderful – to get back to work photographing families and important milestones.

I’m so excited to share some of my favorite photos from Amy and Miles’s wedding in Sonoma last July. I have known Amy and her family since elementary school; Amy’s older sister, Ali, and I became lifelong friends all the way back in the first grade! Ali and I went to different high schools, but Amy went on to attend my high school – as did Miles! Amy and Miles met in high school and have been together ever since.

Over the years, I’ve helped quite a few of my girlfriends find their wedding photographers. I have found that the hardest part for each of them has been knowing where to start. I thought I’d compile my tried-and-true tips into a blog post. I hope you’ll find them helpful.

I am so excited to finally put together a blog post featuring one of my favorite weddings, ever: my dear friend Maddy’s! The entire wedding weekend was a total joy to photograph; their families and friends were so kind and wonderful, and it was so clear to me behind the camera just how loved and respected Maddy and Chris are by all.

I know that we could all use a little bit of light right now, and I thought that photos of this amazing rehearsal dinner dress might help brighten the day. This stunning dress is by Markarian – the same designer who made the bride’s wedding dress.

Introducing Rachel, Andrew, and Maddie! Their family started shooting with me right before Maddie was born, but I recently found a series of photos of itty bitty Rachel at a summer ballet camp that I was photographing for another family way back in 2014.

Today’s family story features adorable Emme who just recently turned four. I first photographed Emme when she was eight months old, and then in 2017 when I launched my family photography subscription, Emme’s mom came up with the idea for a custom subscription for their family: Emme’s birthday in the winter, a mother-daughter shoot in the spring, and a family shoot in the fall.

After you receive your gallery with my photos, the really fun part starts: selecting your favorite photos, printing them, and putting them up in your home for you and your family to enjoy. It’s always fun to hear how other families are displaying their photos and to gather inspiration from others; read on for everyone’s best tips.

Last spring, I photographed this lovely surprise proposal for Paul and Karen who were in New York on vacation. (They live in Seattle, and Paul found me on instagram!) Paul was hoping to propose on Bow Bridge in Central Park, but a thunderstorm forced us to change our plans. I suggested proposing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I’m so glad Paul agreed; I think that this series of photos is so special, and so New York.
