Maddy and Chris: Wedding in Old Lyme, Connecticut

I am so excited to finally put together a blog post featuring one of my favorite weddings, ever: my dear friend Maddy’s! Photographing Maddy’s wedding was such an honor. The entire wedding weekend was a total joy to photograph; their families and friends were so kind and wonderful, and it was so clear to me behind the camera just how loved and respected Maddy and Chris are by all.

The wedding took place at Maddy’s family’s home in Connecticut – which you may recognize from their engagement photos! It was a gorgeous spot for a wedding. Rain was in the forecast leading up to the wedding date, but after rainy first look, the skies cleared and stayed clear until around 10pm that evening.

After the first look, Maddy and Chris’s portraits, bridal party photos, and a couple of family shots, it was time for the ceremony:

The last ceremony photo – of Maddy and Chris beaming at each other as they walked back down the aisle – was very important to Maddy, as her parents and grandparents had the same photo taken at their weddings. I loved walking into the house after the ceremony and being met by a few of Maddy’s cousins eagerly asking to see “the shot”, then exclaiming how happy Maddy would be to have it.

After family photos, it was time for the reception. Much of their decor was sourced from friends and family members: florals by Chris’s cousin Katarina Goldenberg, table numbers by Maddy’s friend Alexandra Coleman, and picket fence place cards by the bride and groom themselves. Incorporating framed photos from their parents’ weddings into the decor was such a lovely touch.

After the toasts but before the dancing, Maddy, Chris and I snuck out for a few golden hour photos by the water:

And then, it was time for the dancing to begin!
